Update Your Cosmetics for Spring

Every year, I look forward to the arrival of spring. I enjoy caring for the beautiful blooming flowers in my yard. I also adore feeling the warmth of the sun on my face. Whenever this glorious season arrives, I immediately go shopping for spring clothes. I also like to update my cosmetics at this time. I like to purchase an array of cosmetics in bright spring hues such as peach, pink, and lilac. Spring is a great time to experiment with a new look. Don’t be afraid to try a new trend. On this blog, you will learn how to update your makeup collection for spring.

Men Increasingly Choose Cosmetic Botox Injections

Cosmetic Botox injections have long been viewed as a procedure for women, helping them to look younger by minimizing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. If you're intrigued about the rejuvenation effects of this treatment but have shied away because you're male, understand that you're definitely not alone in wanting to turn back the clock a few years. More men than ever are choosing to have Botox injections.

The Numbers

Women still make up a large majority of Botox customers, with nearly 6 million treatments performed on women in 2013. However, the number of men getting these injections is increasing at a rapid pace. That number grew more than 200 percent between 2000 and 2013, with about 385,000 Botox treatments performed on men in 2013.

Extrapolating these figures to a hypothetical clinic, that clinic could expect more than 6 percent of its Botox customers to be men, a percentage that will rise as the trend continues.

Celebrity Examples

As you can imagine, both male and female celebrities aren't often inclined to admit they've had any type of cosmetic procedure done. The Urban Gentleman notes that actor Patrick Dempsey and TV and music producer Simon Cowell have confessed to getting Botox injections.

Differences in Treatment

Doctors are inclined to use a more subtle Botox technique with men than they do with women to avoid causing a more feminine facial appearance.

For example, you can expect to still see some evidence of lines in your forehead after Botox, but they won't be nearly as noticeable as they were before the injections. The same is true if you want to have injections for crow's feet around your eyes or for minimizing the lines from the sides of your nose to your mouth corners.

Cost Considerations

Your Botox treatment is likely to cost more than that of women you've talked with. That's because men's facial muscles are significantly larger than women's, so doctors must inject more of the substance. Since health insurance doesn't pay for this type of cosmetic treatment, you'll want to do some price comparisons.

What You Can Do Now

Contact practitioners in your area (such as Botox treatments in Calgary) who offer cosmetic Botox injections. Ask about the level of experience they have with providing Botox for men, since the techniques are somewhat different for men than for women. When you feel comfortable with a particular Botox provider, make your appointment and look forward to a rejuvenated appearance.
